Good, natural growth conditions for trees in the city

Trees and shrubs are an important part of modern urban space, but the plants have very different growth conditions as compared to their natural environment. Paved areas, heavy traffic, lack of space, water and oxygen reduce the opportunities for trees and shrubs to thrive optimally in the city.

DANSAND® Topsoil for avenues is a homogeneous and weed-free mixture, consisting exclusively of natural ingredients such as sand, compost, sphagnum and organic soil improvers in the form of NPK, Animix and horn shavings.

This effective mix that ensures trees and shrubs in the urban space optimal growth conditions without the use of artificial fertilisers.
The organic fertilisers in DANSAND® Topsoil for avenues slowly dissolve in step with the roots’ need for nutrition. It gives the trees an optimal start to growth and minimizes the need for ongoing care. At the same time, the soil structure ensures that the roots get extra good oxygenation and a supply of water in a challenging urban environment.

DANSAND® Topsoil for avenues can be used alone in the plant hole or in combination with framework soil.

DANSAND® Topsoil for avenues is used directly in the hole when planting trees and large shrubs. The plant hole does not have to be deep, but should be as wide as possible. The sides of the hole must be sloping and must be loose so that compaction does not prevent future root growth.

DANSAND® Topsoil for avenues can also be used in plant hole constructions that contain a stone skeleton. 80 vol.% of the cavity in the skeleton is filled with DANSAND® Topsoil for avenues. It is important for the function that all cavities are filled with growth medium so that the roots are guided in the intended direction. To ensure optimal filling of growth soil in the cavities between the stones, the soil must either be compacted or watered down in layers approx. 25 cm thick.
